Job summary

Leicester City Council is recruiting for a frontline Safer Communities Enforcement Officer to help promote safety across the city. You’ll patrol public spaces on foot, enforce Public Space Protection Orders and engage with communities, businesses and partner agencies to reduce anti-social behaviour.

The role is full-time, permanent, 37 hours per week, with a rota across Monday to Saturday 7am–7pm and occasional Sundays.

Qualifications

• Experience in enforcement or frontline community safety is desirable.
• Excellent written skills for evidence gathering and reporting.
• Strong communication and conflict-management abilities.
• Ability to de-escalate situations and make quick, sound decisions.
• Ability to work in multi-agency teams and independently.
• Appointment subject to NPPV2 vetting.

Responsibilities

• Enforce Public Space Protection Orders and issue penalties.
• Identify community safety issues and de-escalate incidents.
• Provide information and guidance to the public on safety matters.
• Prepare high-quality evidence files for potential prosecution.
• Collaborate with partner agencies and attend multi-agency meetings.
• Clarify role remit relative to other uniformed services.
