Kingdom Healthcare is excited to offer a new opportunity for a qualified and committed Band 6 Community Psychiatry Nurse (CPN) to join our client’s Older Adults Mental Health Team in London’s Waltham Forest area. This post is a long-term contract, offering the right candidate stability, flexibility, and the chance to work in a highly regarded NHS community team setting.

As a Band 6 Community Psychiatry Nurse (CPN), you will play a pivotal role in delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to older adult service users in the community. This role requires strong clinical skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, and a genuine commitment to improving mental health outcomes for older adults.

Key Responsibilities of the Band 6 Community Psychiatry Nurse (CPN):


  • Managing a caseload of community-based patients with varying degrees of mental health needs
  • Conducting face-to-face mental health assessments and risk evaluations
  • Participating in duty rotation, responding to urgent cases and supporting colleagues
  • Developing and reviewing care plans using CPA (Care Programme Approach) and DIALOG
  • Administering depot injections and completing routine physical health monitoring (e.g. ECGs, bloods)
  • Writing comprehensive tribunal reports and care act assessments
  • Supporting student nurses and newly qualified professionals, offering supervision and mentorship
  • Collaborating with wider health and social care teams, including GPs, social workers, and voluntary sector agencies
  • Contributing to weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, presenting complex case discussions
  • Facilitating safe discharges from hospital and providing aftercare support

Skills and Experience Required for the Band 6 Community Psychiatry Nurse (CPN):


  • Must be a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with valid NMC registration
  • Significant experience working in a mental health community setting is essential
  • Proven track record as a Band 6 Community Psychiatry Nurse (CPN) or equivalent
  • Experience in preparing social circumstances and tribunal reports
  • Proficient in care planning, assessment, and managing complex mental health presentations
  • Competency in administering depot injections and conducting ECGs/blood tests
  • Strong understanding of the Care Act, CPA, safeguarding, and risk management procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with patients, carers, and colleagues
