Band 6 Mental Health Triage Nurse to join the
Triage and Assessment Team in
Banbury, Oxford, working within Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.
Location: Banbury, Oxford
Contract Type: Ongoing agency placement
Working Pattern: Full-time and part-time considered (rotational shifts including evenings and weekends)
Pay Rate: £27.50 per hour (umbrella) for weekday day shifts
Equivalent PAYE Rate: £22.10
Role Overview: This role sits within a busy mental health triage and crisis response team, where you will be the first point of clinical contact for individuals in mental health distress. You will carry out rapid mental health assessments, prioritise referrals, and support timely and effective decisions about care pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Triage and assess urgent mental health referrals
- Respond to crisis presentations and coordinate immediate support
- Liaise with GPs, police, ambulance services, and community teams
- Identify risk and protective factors in clinical decision-making
- Accurately maintain clinical documentation
- Contribute to daily MDT reviews and ongoing care planning
Essential Requirements:
- NMC Registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
- Recent experience in triage, crisis, or community mental health settings
- Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willing to obtain)
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred)
- Ability to work under pressure and manage complex clinical presentations
