Job summary

Scottish Borders Housing Association invites applications for a permanent Neighbourhood Property Officer based in Selkirk. The role delivers high-quality maintenance and repairs services to SBHA tenants and oversees planned, cyclical and reactive works to ensure homes remain safe and well-maintained.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge and experience of building technology, maintenance and repairs.
• Experience carrying out property and estate inspections and overseeing works.
• Knowledge of legislation relevant to residential dwellings in Scotland and SHQS/EESSH standards.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong IT skills; proficiency with Word and Excel.
• Possession of a current full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and compliance: specify, inspect and instruct maintenance works, monitor contractor performance and ensure health & safety and CDM compliance.
• Property inspections and asset management: inspect properties and communal areas, manage voids and repairs, support asset management updates and handover readiness.
• Quality and performance monitoring: champion work quality, monitor contractors, report performance and identify service improvements.
• Information systems and reporting: maintain housing stock condition data, provide financial and performance data, use ICT tools for reporting with proper data protection.
• Customer service and community engagement: advise tenants, handle queries and complaints promptly, conduct estate inspections and foster tenant involvement.
• General duties: represent the association locally, promote equality, commit to professional development and participate in out-of-hours standby.
