Job summary

CNTW NHS Foundation Trust's Children and Young People’s Service is seeking a Community Practitioner to join a dedicated CAMHS team. You will carry a complex caseload of young people and work within a multi-disciplinary environment to deliver evidence-based interventions.

The role provides opportunities for internal training, supervision, and collaboration with partner agencies within the NHS framework, supporting professional development and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Registered professional with current registration and relevant CAMHS experience.
• Post-registration training in clinical/psychological interventions.
• Experience with CAMHS, trauma therapies and formulation.
• Knowledge of current legislation and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Carry a complex caseload of young people needing therapeutic interventions.
• Provide training and clinical supervision to the team.
• Attend multi-agency meetings and risk management groups.
• Support transition work and audits; liaise with families and partners.
• Offer guidance on strategies and signposting to local services.

EXCITING OPPORTUNITY WITHIN NORTHUMBERLAND CYPS The Children and Young People's Service provide an integrated service for children with persistent, moderate to severe mental health concerns, who have received a previous targeted intervention from other services and have shown little or no improvement.

We deliver a wide range of evidence based interventions through clearly defined care pathways. Development opportunities can be accessed via our comprehensive internal training programme. We have a robust supervision structure for staff, alongside peer support.

Our Mental Health pathway undertakes assessment and intervention to children and young people with complex mental health needs, including anxiety, low mood, self-harm and trauma. Clinicians will work within a collaboratively care planned approach, should be able to work autonomously and within a multi- disciplinary team.

We are keen to recruit clinicians with experience in working with children and young people, and who can work collaboratively with partner agencies.

Main duties of the job

Carrying a complex caseload of young people requiring therapeutic interventions.

Provide training and clinical supervision/support to the wider team.

Attendance at multi agency meetings and risk management group.

Support with transition work and audits as appropriate. Linking in with parent, carers and other partners

Offering advice and guidance of strategies and approaches and signposting to local services (if clinically indicated).

Clinical formulation

Offering supervision and reflective practice.

Person Specification

Knowledge

• Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
• Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post.
• Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post (CAMHS, Trauma therapies, formulation etc)
• Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.
• Working in CAMHS inpatient or secure setting

Skills and Competencies

• Proven ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex mental health needs.
• Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills.
• Demonstrate an understanding of effective & appropriate treatment options including a range of evidence based clinical approaches as identified in N.I.C.E. Guidance).
• Ability to work in a team and lone working
• Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Evidence of a high level of professional, organisational and leadership skills (self & others).
• Training & Induction of staff.

Knowledge and Experience

• 12 to 24 month band 6 Registered professionals experience dependent upon service need.
• Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards and other local and national initiatives.
• Understanding of difficult to manage/challenging behaviours.
