Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust in Morpeth is seeking two Band 6 Community Practitioners for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role is full-time (37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) within NEWST, an integrated Health and Social Care team supporting children and families.

We looking for 2 x B6 community practitioners to embrace the opportunity of working within an innovative and integrated in Health and Social care team, NEWST. NEWST is a clinical team located in Northumberland's Children's Social Care which aims to support professional and family understanding of a child or young persons presentation in the context of their lived experience.

We have this exciting to expand our offer to a wider cohort of children including those supported in Family help, edge of care and cared for Children. Our clinical team works alongside professionals and systems to increase clinical understanding of children and young people’s needs, promoting safe, stable and positive relationships to improve outcomes for young people.

The core focus of NEWSTs practice is built on the belief of therapeutic change happens through relationships. By supporting the adult closest to children who have experienced trauma, the team helps create the conditions for healing recover and healthy developing.

NEWST (Northumberland Emotional Wellbeing Support Team) Join an Innovative Health and Social Care Partnership We are seeking two enthusiastic and skilled Band 6 Community Practitioners to join our innovative and integrated Health and Social Care team, NEWST.

Main duties of the job

Based within Northumberland Children's Social Care, NEWST is a specialist clinical team dedicated to helping professionals and families better understand a child or young person's presentation within the context of their lived experiences. This is a rewarding opportunity to be part of a service that is making a meaningful difference to the lives of children, young people, and families across Northumberland.

As part of an exciting service expansion, NEWST is extending its offer to support a wider cohort of children and young people, including those receiving support through Family Help, Edge of Care services, and Children in Care services.

We are looking for practitioners who:

• Are passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
• Have experience working with children, young people, families, and multi-agency partners.
• Understand the impact of trauma, attachment, and adverse childhood experiences.
• Can work collaboratively across Health and Social Care systems.
• Are committed to relationship-based and trauma-informed practice.
• Bring strong clinical, communication, and consultation skills.

Person specification

Knowledge

• Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
• Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post.
• Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post (CAMHS, Trauma therapies, formulation etc)
• Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.
• Working in CAMHS inpatient or secure setting

Skills and Competencies

• Proven ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex mental health needs.
• Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills.
• Demonstrate an understanding of effective & appropriate treatment options including a range of evidence based clinical approaches as identified in N.I.C.E. Guidance).
• Ability to work in a team and lone working
• Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Evidence of a high level of professional, organisational and leadership skills (self & others).
• Training & Induction of staff.

Knowledge and Experience

• 12 to 24 month band 6 Registered professionals experience dependent upon service need.
• Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards and other local and national initiatives.
• Understanding of difficult to manage/challenging behaviours.
