Job Title: Community Outreach Worker

As our Community Outreach Worker, you will work within an integrated team within Next Link Domestic Abuse Services. Your role involves providing a coordinated package of emotional and practical support, advice, and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and their children, who are living in the community and experiencing domestic abuse. The aim is to empower survivors to increase their options, make positive decisions, and enhance their confidence, safety, and recovery.

Key duties and responsibilities:
  • Provide outreach, resettlement, and tenancy sustainment support to help women in the community maintain their current accommodation, access alternative housing, welfare benefits, legal advice, and support services.
  • Maintain an effective support service to enable survivors and their children to develop skills and resources necessary for independence and self-reliance.
  • Offer short-term support around safety planning and inform clients of their options regarding their current circumstances.
  • Keep knowledge of local services up to date, encourage engagement, and help reduce families’ isolation.
  • Recognize, respect, and address the needs of service-users who face particular barriers when seeking help.
  • Maintain current knowledge of housing legislation, welfare legislation, and the welfare benefit system.
  • Promote the service by building positive relationships with referrers and service users to ensure a steady flow of appropriate referrals.
  • Refer children and young people needing additional support to Family Workers where relevant.
  • Participate in regular supervision, reflective practice groups, and annual appraisals.
