Job summary

Essex County Council’s Adult Community Learning is seeking a Community Trainer to deliver inclusive, accessible learning that helps adults build confidence, gain new skills and progress in learning or employment. You’ll work across Essex in community settings, creating welcoming, learner-centred experiences and collaborating with partners to widen participation.

The role focuses on English, maths, digital skills, wellbeing and employability, with safeguarding and inclusive practice at the core

Qualifications

• Experience delivering learning, training or support to adults in community/outreach or educational settings.
• Strong understanding of inclusive and learner-centred teaching practice.
• Ability to build effective relationships with learners and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess high-quality community learning sessions tailored to learner needs and community priorities.
• Deliver a range of entry-level and community learning programmes, including English, maths, digital skills, employability and wellbeing courses.
• Embed English, maths and digital skills within learning programmes where appropriate.
• Support learners to develop confidence, wellbeing and progression through flexible learning approaches.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs, including additional support needs.
• Use assessment and learner reviews to monitor progress and celebrate achievement.
• Collaborate with community partners to engage new learners and support participation in learning opportunities.
