Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking a dedicated Chef for the Day Centre catering team in Birmingham. You will prepare and serve nutritious meals for vulnerable residents, supporting the Head Chef and ensuring high standards of food safety and customer care.

You will develop menus, manage stock, and contribute to service improvements while delivering excellent customer service to residents and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Experience of preparing and presenting food to high standards.
• Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements.
• Understanding of food safety, HACCP and health & safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present high-quality meals to set standards.
• Develop and deliver nutritionally balanced menus.
• Maintain food hygiene and safety, infection control and HACCP.
• Order supplies and manage stock rotation and storage.
• Complete cleaning schedules and maintain equipment.
• Support service improvements and participate in meetings.
