Job description

At Pobl Group, this role is best known as Floating Support Worker. We have an opportunity for a passionate, positive, and reliable Floating Support Worker to join the Vale of Glamorgan Floating Support team on a full-time, permanent basis.

It is essential that the successful candidate holds a driver's licence and has access to a car.

Interviews are scheduled to take place on the 12th December 2025.

Where does the role fit in?

Our Vale Housing Support Service offers housing support to individuals within their homes or temporary accommodation. We provide support to people to develop the key skills needed to prevent homelessness and develop skills needed to maintain their tenancies, change negative behaviour, maintain their health and wellbeing, progress to independent living and make appropriate choices.

How can I make a difference?

As a Floating Support Worker, you will be reacting and supporting individuals with housing support needs which may include improving their budgeting skills, addressing debts, maximising income through appropriate benefits or supporting them with entering into employment. You will also support them with household management, teaching them life skills and signposting support with alcohol or substance misuse, mental and physical health, and anti‑social behaviour.

Other duties will include:
  • Provide housing related support to enable clients to take on and/or sustain a tenancy to prevent homelessness.
  • Liaise and work closely with other agencies and professionals regarding clients’ support needs e.g., Social Services, Social Landlords, Lettings Agencies etc.
  • Offer appropriate levels of support in a sensitive manner, considering the emotional and intellectual needs of the client, respecting their choice and privacy.
Who are we looking for?

To be a great Floating Support Worker, you don’t always need previous experience or qualifications. A good understanding of housing related support and welfare benefits or awareness of issues faced by people at risk of homelessness would be extremely useful in the role.

  • Salary - £24,531.00 FTE
  • Work Pattern: Monday – Thursday 9am – 5pm; Friday 9am – 4:30pm
  • Location: The Vale – During the probationary period, you will be expected to work from the office when not attending customer visits. Upon successful completion of probation, you will have the flexibility to work from home for administrative duties
