Job summary

Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Band 3 Community Healthcare Assistant for the Weymouth & Portland District Nursing service. You will visit patients in their homes delivering clinical care, wound care, and phlebotomy with extended skills as you gain proficiency.

Role requires DBS clearance (funded by the Trust), a valid driving license, and willingness to work Bank Holidays and some weekends. Right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience of community clinical work is desirable, but training will be offered.
  • Must have a valid driving license and access to a car for Trust business.
  • An Enhanced DBS check is required and will be funded by the Trust.
  • Visa sponsorship for this role is not available; ensure right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Visit patients in their own homes providing clinical care, including wound care and extended skills when proficient.
  • Undertake care according to the care plan under supervision of the District Nurse Lead.
  • Be able to travel to patients in care homes and homes within Weymouth & Portland area; work Bank Holidays and weekends pro rata.

Job description

Band 3 Community Healthcare Assistant vacancy for the Weymouth and Portland District Nursing service.

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual with good communication skills and a passion for caring for patients in their own homes.

Experience of clinical work in the community is desirable but training will be offered to the successful applicant.

There is an expectation that the successful candidate will undertake our in house development program for extended skills which will involve insulin administration, administration of other injectables and catheterisation.

Our Community Health Care Assistants are required to work Bank Holidays, pro rata, and some weekends.

Please note visa sponsorship for this role is unfortunately not available. Ensure you hold valid right to work in the UK and will not require sponsorship if successful.

Under the supervision and support from the team you will be required to visit patients in their own homes providing clinical care.

Working as a Healthcare Assistant within the District Nursing Team you will visit patients in their own homes providing clinical care, including wound care, phlebotomy and extended skills once proficient.

To undertake care, following the instructions of the team leader or nominated deputy according to the needs of the patients as identified on the care plan, providing evidence based, high quality, holistic nursing care for patients in their own homes and care homes

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.

Access to a car with a valid driving license is essential for this role. Subject to the provisions of the Equality Act, able to travel using own vehicle on Trust business.
