Job summary

Wates is seeking a skilled Plumber to join our Responsive Maintenance team in Bedfordshire. You’ll carry out plumbing repairs, maintenance, and renewals in occupied and void properties, diagnosing faults and delivering high-quality workmanship to keep residents safe and comfortable.

This role emphasizes customer-focused service, independent workload management, and the use of PDA handhelds to update progress and document work.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a plumber in repairs, maintenance or social housing.
• Own workload management with proactive approach.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out plumbing repairs, maintenance, and renewals within occupied and void properties.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently and safely.
• Undertake minor multi-trade works where appropriate.
• Work closely with colleagues, subcontractors, and customers to resolve issues effectively.
• Use handheld technology (PDA) to manage jobs, provide updates, and complete documentation.
• Identify follow-on works and communicate requirements to supervisors and schedulers.
• Deliver an excellent customer experience during every visit.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety regulations and company standards.
