Job summary

NatCen International is seeking a Field Interviewer to visit communities across Scotland and conduct in-home research interviews on health, housing, transport, and daily life. You’ll represent a trusted research organisation and help ensure local realities inform policy decisions.

You’ll start with thorough training, then plan your own route, and travel is a normal part of the role. This flexible, part-time position values empathy, good listening, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence and sole use of a car.
• Class 1 Business insurance.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Willingness to complete a DBS check.
• Reliable home broadband.
• Confidence using basic technology.
• At least 20 hours available per week (minimum 3 days).
• Flexibility to work across weekdays, evenings and weekends.
• Strong verbal and written English.

Responsibilities

• Visit people in your local area and carry out in-home research interviews on issues that matter.
• Use a NatCen device to guide conversations and record responses accurately.
• Travel around your assigned area; some projects may require longer journeys or overnight stays.
• Participate in training and ongoing check-ins with support from the team.
• Help ensure Scottish voices are heard and stories inform decision-makers.
