Job summary

Wiltshire Council’s Spurgeons Wiltshire Family Hub is seeking a Family Navigator to support families across West Wiltshire, including Warminster, Westbury, Mere, Bradford-on-Avon and Trowbridge.

You will visit libraries, engage with families at drop-in sessions, and guide them to local services. The role emphasizes building trusted relationships with schools, health services, and community groups.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or 4 in a relevant field such as health, social care, family studies, youth work or community development.
• Experience working with families or communities in supportive or outreach-based roles.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
• Ability to travel regularly across the service area; occasional regional or national travel may be required.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, child development, local services and the challenges families may face.
• Strong organisational, problem solving and advocacy skills.
• Empathy, cultural sensitivity and a non‑judgemental approach.

Responsibilities

• Help families, children and young people navigate the range of services available across the Family Hub network.
• Build strong partnerships with schools, early years settings, health services, and community groups.
• Promote Family Hub services through community engagement and local events.
• Support co production activities with families and colleagues to shape local services.
• Map community resources
• Promote volunteering opportunities to help strengthen local community resilience
