Job summary

Somerset Council, based in Somerset, is seeking a Community Engagement Manager to lead engagement on the Flood Resilience Programme, coordinating relationships with communities, partners and stakeholders to inform delivery.

You will shape programme priorities using local insight, manage a team, and work in a flexible hybrid arrangement to support a healthy work-life balance.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading and delivering community and stakeholder engagement within a complex organisation, partnership or programme.
  • Strong understanding of community engagement, stakeholder management and partnership working.
  • Experience managing teams, resources and budgets to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with elected members, communities and multi-agency partners.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of audiences.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and influencing skills, with the ability to use evidence and insight to inform decision-making.

Salary: Grade 10, ranging from £38,510 - £43,149 per annum

Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week

Contract: Fixed-term contract until October 2028

About the Role

As Community Engagement Manager, you'll lead and coordinate engagement activity across the Somerset Flood Resilience Programme, managing relationships with communities, partners and stakeholders while ensuring local insight helps shape programme delivery and outcomes.
