Job summary

NHS Scotland invites applications for a Community Staff Nurse within the District Nursing team based at Prestwick. The role covers community nursing with a 36-hour workweek and a requirement to work some weekends.

A UK driving licence is essential. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for various client groups in the community, with opportunities to supervise staff and manage caseloads during absences.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC Registration.
• Excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative.
• Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with people as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Working knowledge of basic information technology.
• Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence.
• Desirable skills such as subcutaneous infusions, central venous access device care, complex wound care including ABPI measurement.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in the community setting.
• Manage caseload in absence of the Charge Nurse and supervise/deploy staff.
• Communicate effectively and work independently as a lone worker across community settings.
• Demonstrate a commitment to personal development and undertake appropriate training.
