Job summary

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board in Wales is seeking a Community Dental Therapist to deliver preventive and restorative care in community settings, including Nevill Hall Hospital and other local sites.

You will assess oral health, develop treatment plans, educate patients, and support those with additional needs while working with a multidisciplinary team in a patient-centred environment.

Qualifications

• Recognised dental therapy qualification or equivalent accepted for UK registration.
• Current registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).
• Clinical knowledge within the scope of dental therapy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary dental team.
• Compassionate, patient-centred approach for patients with additional needs.
• Good organisational skills across multiple locations.
• Commitment to continuing professional development and high clinical standards.
• NHS salary described as approximately £40,559–£48,841 per annum.

Responsibilities

• Provide preventive and restorative dental treatment to patients in community settings.
• Assess patients’ oral health and develop appropriate treatment plans.
• Deliver oral health education and promote good dental hygiene practices.
• Support patients with additional needs and access challenges.
• Work collaboratively with dentists, dental nurses and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with infection-control and patient-safety procedures.
• Help improve access to dental services and promote better oral health outcomes in the community.
• Work across designated clinical locations according to service requirements.
