Job summary

Alzheimer Scotland is seeking a Community Connections Co-ordinator in Helensburgh to set up, deliver and evaluate person-centred activities for people living with dementia and their carers. You will work mainly as part of a two-person team to create welcoming environments that promote wellbeing and social connection, and build local partnerships to increase reach.

The role requires a positive, compassionate approach, creativity, organisation and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Experience working with people with dementia is beneficial.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle to travel for this role.
• Right to work in the UK and PVG check required.

Who we are

Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland's national dementia charity. Our aim is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, we campaign for the rights of people with dementia and fund vital dementia research.

What you'll do

The Community Connections Co-ordinator will set up, deliver and evaluate a range of person-centred activities and support groups for people living with dementia and their carers. This includes drop‑in sessions, therapeutic activities, dementia café‑style provision, carer support, and brain health initiatives delivered through local community hubs or within a local centre. Working predominantly as a team of two, the postholder will create inclusive and welcoming environments that promote wellbeing, independence and social connection while building strong local partnerships to increase awareness and participation.

What you'll have

We are looking for someone with a positive and compassionate approach to supporting people living with dementia. You will be creative, organised and flexible with the ability to create inclusive and engaging experiences for individuals within a group setting. Strong communication skills, empathy and the confidence to support people during difficult or distressing times are essential. You will also value continuous learning and be keen to develop your skills through training and professional development. Previous experience working with people with dementia and a relevant qualification would be beneficial

Applicants must have a full and valid driving licence and vehicle to be able to travel for this role.

The successful candidate for this post will be required to provide proof of right to work in the UK and will also be subject to a PVG check through Disclosure Scotland.
