Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation Mission Systems UK is seeking a skilled Communications Systems Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering Team. The successful candidate will design, implement, and maintain secure communication systems to meet complex operational requirements.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams and work closely with Senior Communications Systems Engineers to build, configure, and test mission systems, ensuring high performance and reliability in demanding environments.

Qualifications

GCSE English and Maths included (grade C or higher).
2–4 years configuring, operating and securing networks.
Knowledge of troubleshooting tools, methods and processes.
Proven experience supporting production environments.
Ability to configure custom GPOs and firewalls to enhance security.
Experience configuring hypervisors and deploying virtual machines.
Experience using Linux command line interface.
Familiarity with message formats, e.g., tactical data links.
Experience configuring and maintaining cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

System design: assist in developing and optimizing communication system architectures.
Implementation and testing: build, configure, and test communication systems for performance.
Integration: collaborate with software, hardware, and network teams.
Problem-solving: diagnose and resolve system performance issues.
Documentation: prepare detailed design specifications and test plans.
Technology research: stay updated on communications tech and apply improvements.
Stakeholder engagement: work with customers and internal teams to meet requirements.
