Are you passionate about supporting young people with communication needs to thrive in an educational environment? GSL Education is proud to be working with a welcoming and forward-thinking secondary school in Fareham to recruit a full-time Communications Support Worker to start in September 2025.

This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), who is keen to make a real difference in the lives of students with additional needs. You will be a vital part of a dedicated inclusion team, working closely with teaching staff, the SENCO, and external professionals to ensure students receive targeted, high-quality support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-class support to students with identified communication needs, helping them access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
  • Deliver tailored intervention programmes, including both one-to-one and small group sessions, focusing on language development and communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with the SEN and pastoral teams to monitor progress and adapt strategies where necessary.
  • Contribute to student support plans and liaise with external agencies (e.g. Speech and Language Therapy teams) when appropriate.
  • Promote inclusive practices within the classroom and across the wider school community.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience supporting students with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), ideally within a school or educational setting.
  • Be passionate, patient, and empathetic, with a genuine commitment to helping young people succeed.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be adaptable, resilient, and a team player.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in speech and language support (e.g. ELKLAN, SaLT Assistant training) would be highly advantageous.
