Job summary

AG Barr is seeking a Communications Officer to join the team in Cumbernauld on a 3-month FTC with hybrid working (3 collaboration days). You will craft engaging internal communications, manage channels, and support events and ESG initiatives across the business. A relevant degree and two years in a comms role are preferred.

You will work with the Head of Communications, building relationships and translating content for broad audiences, while keeping our corporate reputation strong.

Qualifications

  • A relevant degree (or equivalent) with at least 2 years’ experience in a communications role.
  • Excellent communication in spoken and written form.
  • Familiar with website CMS (Umbraco) and video/design tools (Canva, Vimeo).
  • Flexible communication style for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to build relationships with employees across the business.
  • Proactive, creative, and organized with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Identify employee, business and brand content for internal communication.
  • Deliver content across channels (Fizz, videos, e-newsletters, digital screens).
  • Manage campaigns and own the communication workstream.
  • Oversee content creation and community management of Fizz.
  • Create social media content and manage LinkedIn.
  • Develop and update the corporate website; coordinate with colleagues on best practice.
  • Support planning and delivery of events (Barr Live, Leadership events).
  • Manage relationships with charity partners and internal champions for engagement.
  • Support People, Health & Wellbeing and ESG strategies.

What we’re looking for…

Joining our Communications team, part of our People function, you’ll be part of a small team with a big remit - to deliver brilliant communications across a range of channels to key stakeholders and audiences, and to help protect and promote our corporate reputation.

Working with the Head of Communications, you’ll have a broad and varied role but with a particular focus on employee communication and engagement. As a communications specialist, you’ll create great content, guide others on best practice techniques and make sure that the right message hits the right audience every time.

Your responsibilities will include...

  • Building strong relationships and contacts across the business to allow the identification of employee, business and brand content for onward employee communication.
  • Simplifying and `translating’ this content into appropriate material and delivering it across the business, choosing the best selection of communication channels e.g. Fizz (our internal communications platform), videos, e-newsletters, digital screens etc.
  • Managing communication campaigns and channels for specific projects across different business teams, participating in meetings as the subject matter expert and advising teams of the best approach to communication. Effectively `owning’ the communication workstream.
  • Responsible for the content creation and community management of Fizz (our internal communications platform), to engage and inform our people
  • Creating engaging social media content and managing the upkeep of sites including Linkedin.
  • Responsible for the development of our corporate website, as well as its content and upkeep, co-ordinating with colleagues to ensure it reflects the business and website best practice.
  • Supporting the Head of Communications with the planning and delivery of key events across the business (e.g. Barr Live, Leadership events and brand events)
  • Managing the day-to-day relationship with our corporate charity partners and our business-wide Charity Champions, to encourage employee engagement across all sites.
  • Playing a key role in bringing our People, Health & Wellbeing, and ESG strategies to life.

What you’ll bring...

  • A relevantdegree (or equivalent) with at least 2 years’ experience in a communications related role.
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written - you’ll notice spelling mistakes and mispronunciations!
  • Digital savviness coupled with a willingness and capability to learn about new platforms and systems including our website content management software (Umbraco currently) as well as video and design platforms such as Canva and Vimeo.
  • A flexible communication style that can be adapted to suit any audience.
  • An ability to build and develop great working relationships with a wide range of employees.
  • A drive to continually improve - always striving to find new and better ways.
  • Creativity - you’ll have flair in your written copy and an artistic eye.
  • Initiative - this is a role where you can make a difference and create your own success. Drive your own career by stepping forward and taking the lead.
