Great British Nuclear (GBN) is a new government arm's length body supporting the delivery of Britain's energy security and net zero, making sure that we can power Britain from Britain sustainably. It has been set up to turn nuclear ambition into reality. This is an exciting and critical time to bring your experience and expertise to GBN.

We are looking for a Communication Officer to work predominantly across Internal Communications, Digital and Events to join our communications team. This is a hybrid role, with an expectation for one or two days a week in our Warrington, UK office.

This is a pivotal role in helping to build a unified, motivated and informed team at GBN. You will shape and deliver engaging internal communications, manage digital communication channels, support the planning and delivery of events, and help ensure strong team coordination through high-quality administrative support.

The role combines creativity and people-focus with strong organisational and communication skills. It's an ideal opportunity for someone looking to develop in a supportive environment.

Internal Communications

  • Deliver internal communications campaigns and content across a range of formats (e.g. newsletters, intranet updates, staff briefings, video content)
  • Work with the HR and leadership teams to support internal engagement and wellbeing communications
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal communication channels.

Digital Communications

  • Manage and update internal digital platforms (e.g., intranet, digital signage, internal email systems)
  • Ensure all content meets accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.2), plain English guidance, and GBN's brand tone of voice

Events

  • Help with the planning and delivery of internal and external events (e.g., town halls, webinars, conferences, site visits). Contribute to post-event evaluation and reporting
  • Manage event logistics, including venue sourcing, digital setup, guest coordination, accessibility arrangements, and event materials

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

  • Experience in one or more of these areas; business administration, communications, digital content, events coordination or related fields
  • Excellent communication skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and work collaboratively across teams
  • Confident using common digital and communications platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, SharePoint, email tools)
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Familiarity with digital tool such as social media management, video, SharePoint or creative design, however training will be provided.
  • Experience designing or supporting hybrid events (online and in-person)

Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent experience in Communications, PR, Events Management, Digital Media, Business Administration or a related field is essential.

Additional Information

  • This role may require occasional UK travel to GBN offices or event locations
