Job description

We have an exciting role for a highly motivated and hardworking individual to join the MBDA's Media Relations and Social Media team. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to develop and shape the external image of a leading European defence company, working within a multinational in-house communications department.

Salary: Circa £50,000 depending on experience.

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site depending on workload and business needs.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. All successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team, after the offer stage.

The opportunity:

What you'll be doing:

• Collaborating with internal teams to communicate MBDA's strategic priorities externally and providing communications support and advice.
• Identifying news stories and social media content opportunities.
• Developing and executing external communications plans aligned with MBDA's objectives and industry engagement.
• Creating engaging content for various media channels to support external communications.
• Supporting media relations activities, including press conferences and exhibitions.
• Responding promptly to media inquiries.
• Monitoring media coverage, evaluating communication effectiveness, and reporting.
• Building relationships with media outlets at various levels.
• Maintaining good relationships with colleagues and partners nationally and internationally.
• Assisting in creating cross-functional content for MBDA channels.
• Supporting other communication activities as needed by senior leaders.
• Participating in the UK's Incident Management Team when required.
• Travel within the UK and internationally may be required.

What we're looking for from you:

• Self-motivated team player, effective collaborator.
• Creative with proven success in communications activities.
• Detail-oriented with strong copywriting and proofreading skills; able to meet deadlines.
• Proactive problem solver with positive attitude.
• Good judgment and decision-making skills, capable of managing multiple stakeholders.
• Experience in an in-house communications team, agency, or media outlet, or relevant work experience.

Desirable:

• PR, journalism, or equivalent qualification and/or professional membership (e.g., CIPR, PRCA, CIM).
• Experience in large, complex organizations with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in defence, engineering, manufacturing, or related sectors.
