Job description

We believe every colleague plays a crucial role in keeping the country moving. To achieve this, we need to communicate effectively, share our brand story, and ignite excitement about our journey. We're on the lookout for a talented Communications Executive to join our vibrant team at our Donnington, Telford site.

Your Role

Want to listen and learn from people across our business, before putting plans into action to keep them engaged? This is the role for you. You’ll be working with key people across our Contract Logistics Business Unit to deliver communications that keep our colleagues informed and excited. You’ll support the development, implementation, and embedding of our UK-wide communication plan and strategy, gathering feedback along the way. Additionally, you’ll help develop and create innovative communications, reinforcing Kuehne+Nagel’s brand. If you enjoy a challenge and want to be part of an exciting journey, then we’ll be the right fit for you. Be ready to understand our business—logistics is more interesting than you think. Our goal is to support the hardworking people across the UK who deliver for our customers, so understanding what motivates them is key. You’ll need to embrace variety and be a quick learner, quickly understanding how one company can do everything from providing a red carpet for the King to moving a 15-tonne aircraft engine.

Your Responsibilities

Embrace Flexibility with Us! Our working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. During your first six months, you'll be based on-site to build relationships and connect with colleagues. Afterward, enjoy the flexibility of working three days in the office and two days remotely.

  • Provide expert writing, formatting, proofreading, and editing services to the Contract Logistics business.
  • Liaise with the central Kuehne+Nagel communications team and follow guidance on corporate content.
  • Collaborate with the Contract Logistics Leadership team to define, plan, and deliver an integrated communications schedule aligned with the UK strategy.
  • Support local and national colleague awards and recognition initiatives.
  • Ensure a consistent flow of information across Contract Logistics, working with key stakeholders and responding to topical issues or short-term changes.
  • Advise stakeholders on feedback, insights, research, and support the development of new messages and methods.
  • Support organizational objectives related to colleague engagement.
  • Use tools like surveys and focus groups to measure communication effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in developing communication materials such as briefing documents, statements, and FAQs for internal and external stakeholders.
Your Skills and Experiences
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Creative with excellent copywriting skills in English for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to analyze data and present insights effectively.
  • Experience as a Communications Executive dealing with a diverse employee base is preferred.
  • Positive, proactive, resilient, solutions-oriented, with a passion for communications.
  • Ability to translate complex messages into engaging stories, copies, and visuals.
  • Effective team player who can also work independently, building trust with colleagues.
  • Proficient in MS Office and familiar with Adobe creative tools. Relevant qualifications in communications, marketing, or journalism are a plus but not essential.

Please note that applying for this role implies consent to participate in employment screening, including criminal record checks and identity validation. Successful applicants will need to provide the necessary documentation for these checks. Appointment is conditional upon satisfactory results.

Good Reasons to Join

If you become a valued member of our team, we will reward your commitment and expertise. Benefits include 26 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with opportunities to earn additional days. You can join our contributory pension plan and benefit from our Route 2 Rewards scheme, offering discounts, recognition, and wellbeing resources. We also care for our colleagues and their immediate families through our employee assistance programme, providing 24/7 access to GPs, legal and financial advice, and mental health support. All designed to promote a happier, healthier life.
