Job Overview

The purpose of this role is to support the needs of, and act as a change agent for, some of our flagship (digital) transformation programmes – in particular, communicating with and engaging audiences around this transformation.

Main duties of the job

The role includes building and maintaining relationships with a broad range of external & internal stakeholders.

This work will involve managing, developing, and delivering through internal and external communication channels, to help achieve the strategic priorities of both the Digital Programmes Team and North Bristol NHS Trust. This role incorporates a broad spectrum of work: drafting emails and bulletins, overseeing publications for internal audiences, coordinating events and other face-to-face activity, producing online content (e.g. for social media and the NBT intranet), and attending/updating project boards and steering groups.

The postholder will need to be credible, confident, self-driven, and able to work with a wide range of people.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

  • Produce communications content for a range of audiences, including media releases, pictures and videos and project manage the design and production of promotional materials
  • Responsible for designing, writing and editing content and marketing materials
  • Responsible for researching, writing, commissioning and editing content, and supporting the production process from concept to distribution
  • Responsible for sourcing relevant material for, and liaising with an external agency on the production of, a supporter and corporate newsletter and e-newsletters
  • Design and develop creative content, including case studies, which is impactful and can be used across different communications channels
  • Liaise with the website provider and keep abreast of new developments
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to update the website with content, then liaise with 3rd party suppliers
  • Act as a media liaison, responsible for the development, coordination, and updating of various online and social networking sites
  • Provide a high-quality communications service to the Trust and its stakeholders
  • Work effectively across the Trust
  • Design and write content for a variety of internal and external communications channels
  • Liaise with external suppliers as required to deliver communications and engagement materials
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships between the Trust and local, national and specialist media
  • Support a proactive media strategy to increase the opportunities to highlight the positive work of the Trust across all media channels.
  • Ensure the website is constantly reviewed and updated.
  • Identify opportunities to promote the Trust online through web, intranet and social media
  • Help to develop new opportunities with social and digital media to promote and benefit the Trust
  • Work on the communications projects and activity from across the Trust.
  • Manage and deliver high quality events
  • Provide active communications support across a range of projects
  • Develop the Trust brand and visual identity
  • Carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required
  • Use project management skills to deliver activity to time and to budget

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of photography / video / graphics / audio design
  • Knowledge of internet and intranet Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • Ability to manage digital asset libraries (DAM software)
