London Business School is looking for a proactive and detail-focused Communications Assistant to join our Advancement team.
This is an excellent entry-level communications role supporting the ongoing delivery of Advancement communications across a wide range of channels. You will help create, refine, coordinate and publish content that engages alumni, donors and supporters, while developing your communications skills in a supportive, creative and collaborative environment.
Working within the Advancement Proposition Development and Campaign team, and reporting to the Senior Strategic Communications Manager, you will support email communications, campaign marketing, internal communications, community engagement pieces, web content, social media activity, primarily LinkedIn, and other digital platforms including MyLBS.
You will work closely with colleagues across Advancement, as well as Brand, Marketing and Communications teams, to ensure communications are well planned, on brand, accurate and aligned. This is a fantastic opportunity to build broad communications experience while contributing to the success of London Business School’s Forever Forward campaign.
Write, proof-read and refine Advancement content, including invitations, joining instructions, newsletters, web copy, articles and other pieces for alumni and donor audiences.
Draft, edit and share engaging content for Advancement leadership LinkedIn profiles, the closed LinkedIn alumni group and other digital platforms.
Ensure content is on brand, consistent in style and tone, and appropriate for the intended audience and author.
Optimise relevant content for LinkedIn and other digital channels.
Spot suitable unplanned communications opportunities for alumni and donor audiences on social media and help respond to them in a timely way.
Brief the production of new collateral and creative assets for communications activity.
Contribute to communications status and planning meetings with stakeholders across Advancement and other teams.
Help protect the London Business School brand and tone of voice, flagging risks where needed.
Provide administrative support to the communications team.
Assist with schedule planning and reporting for Advancement communications.
Work with the Alumni Communications Analyst to request data, support email communication preparation and check communications for errors or broken links before sign-off and distribution.
Collaborate with Brand and Marketing colleagues to create assets for communications activity.
Work closely with the School’s main social media team to support Advancement content and profile key alumni and donor events on central channels.
Represent the communications function in team meetings, preparing agendas and taking notes where required.
Support Advancement colleagues to build alumni engagement on social channels and other digital platforms such as MyLBS.
Further education or equivalent experience.
A vocational qualification, or interest in developing professional communications capability, would be helpful.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to address a variety of stakeholders.
Excellent proof-reading skills and strong attention to detail.
Sound working knowledge of standard IT packages.
Experience of mailing software.
A proactive approach to developing working relationships with colleagues.
The ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Good time management skills, with the ability to organise and prioritise.
Good team-working skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
The ability to interpret and apply guidelines to specific communications activity.
Some experience in events marketing and/or communications would be desirable.
