We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Communications Advisor to join our growing Energy team, supporting the delivery of major National Grid and Overhead Lines frameworks across England, Wales, and Scotland. Reporting to a Communications Business Partner, you will work closely with project and functional teams to develop and deliver strategic communications, colleague engagement initiatives, campaigns, and events that support project delivery, safety performance, and business objectives.
Role Responsibilities
- Work closely with Communications Business Partners and operational teams to develop and deliver effective communications plans, campaigns, and engagement activities.
- Provide communications advice and support to project, functional and leadership teams across the Energy business.
- Create engaging content across a range of channels, including intranet articles, newsletters, presentations, case studies, videos, and leadership communications.
- Support the development and delivery of strategic communications that improve project delivery, safety performance, and colleague engagement.
- Lead on communications projects and campaigns, with guidance and support from the Communications Business Partners and Head of Communications.
- Organise and coordinate internal and external events, ensuring successful planning, promotion, and delivery.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver communications objectives and ensure consistent messaging across projects and programmes.
- Help develop innovative approaches to employee engagement and cultural improvement initiatives.
- Manage project tasks aligned to agreed communications strategies and plans.
- Support project teams in translating complex technical information into clear, engaging, and accessible communications.
- Evaluate campaign effectiveness and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- Experience in a communications, internal communications, marketing, or engagement role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create clear, concise, and engaging content.
- Strong people skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience supporting the delivery of communications campaigns, projects, and engagement activities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to tight deadlines.
- Strong organisational skills and diligence.
- Experience using Microsoft 365 applications, including PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Confidence working independently while also collaborating within a wider communications team.
- Ability to simplify technical or complex information for a variety of audiences.
- Experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure, energy, or related sectors.
- Professional qualification or membership with the Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC) or Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR).
- Experience planning and delivering internal or corporate events.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud Suite to develop communications materials.
- Experience leading communications projects or campaigns.
- Understanding of employee engagement, culture change and change communications.

About The Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
