Job summary

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, based in Motherwell, Scotland, is seeking a Senior Bid Manager to drive bid submissions for Transmission projects in Scotland. You will lead planning, strategy, and proposal writing to ensure on-time, on-budget wins for SSEN & SPT.

The role requires senior bid management experience in energy or civil infrastructure, and openness to preconstruction leadership roles such as Design Manager or Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• Degree level or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Chartered engineer or similar and participation in affiliated bodies (e.g. Institute of Civil Engineering).
• Senior level involvement in work winning within Energy or Civil infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage all aspects of bids providing subject matter expertise where required.
• Provide effective bid management and leadership on all tenders, personally managing larger opportunities.
• Understand Morgan Sindall business to project benefits to customers through proposals.
• Establish winning strategies and writing plans for quality-led bids; participate in red reviews.
• Support bid team members to ensure value-adding bid management.
• Coordinate production of bids and proposals with costed bid plans and necessary authorisations.
• Identify skills and capabilities required to submit bid and fulfil contract from internal or external sources.
• Record, analyse and manage issues, risks, changes and dependencies during the bid.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Bid Manager to work on Transmission projects in Scotland for our clients SSEN & SPT.

Role Overview

The Senior Bid Manager is responsible for submitting completed bids to existing or prospective customers. These will be completed on time and within budget, ensuring that all questions have been answered as fully as possible, and that Morgan Sindall is positioned with the best possible chance of success.

Role Responsibilities

• Plan and manage all aspects of bids providing subject matter expertise where required.
• Ensure effective and inspirational bid management and leadership is provided on all tenders, while personally managing larger tender opportunities.
• Understand and interact with the overall Morgan Sindall business to allow projection of benefits to customers, through our proposals.
• Establish winning strategies and writing plans for quality led bids and participates in red reviews of prequalification documents and tenders.
• Give support and assistance to other bid team members as required to ensure bid management is value adding and effective throughout the business.
• Coordinate the production of bids and proposals while producing costed bid plans and gaining all relevant authorisations.
• Identify the skills and capabilities required to submit the bid and subsequently fulfil the contract, from in-house or from third parties.
• Record, analyse and manage issues, risks, changes, and dependencies during the bid.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant field
• Chartered engineer or similar and participation in affiliated bodies (for example Institute of Civil Engineering).
• Previous senior level involvement in work winning within Energy or Civil infrastructure
• Experience managing significant bids and other submissions to win profitable work.
• We are happy to consider Design Managers or Engineering Managers who want to work in preconstruction.

About The Energy Business Unit

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
