Job description

Specific Hours: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Applicants must have British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 minimum.

We are recruiting for a Communication Support Worker to join our Deaf Access Team based at our college. The team is well-established and comprises highly skilled Communication Support Workers and Sign Language Interpreters who provide communication support to Deaf students within the college and the local community. We also operate a communication support agency serving Derby and surrounding areas.

The Opportunity

This role is varied, involving working with a wide range of D/deaf students using various communication methods. There are also ad-hoc events throughout the year, such as open evenings, work placements, and promoting Deaf Awareness Week to DCG colleagues.

This is a full-time role, but it may be split into two part-time roles.

About you

To succeed, you'll be a personable individual who enjoys working with diverse groups and building rapport quickly. You'll join a supportive, friendly team of CSWs who will encourage your professional and communication development. You must be qualified to Level 2 or above in BSL and have knowledge of the Equality Act 2010.
