Job summary

Chemring Countermeasures is seeking a proactive Production Buyer to ensure the right materials are available at the right time and cost at our Salisbury site. You will work closely with Production Planning, Operations and Engineering to build strong supplier relationships and support the manufacturing programme.

The role requires previous purchasing experience, strong negotiation skills, and an analytical mindset with keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure materials and services to meet production demand.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times and commercial agreements.

• Proactively resolve shortages and expedite critical orders.
• Identify cost-saving and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Support inventory optimisation and engineering changes.
• Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and procedures.

We're looking for a proactive and commercially minded Production Buyer to ensure the right materials are available at the right time, at the right cost. Working closely with Production Planning, Operations and Engineering, you'll build strong supplier relationships, manage supply risks and support the smooth delivery of our manufacturing programme.

What you'll do

• Source and procure materials and services to meet production demand.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times and commercial agreements.
• Manage supplier performance, OTIF and risk.
• Proactively resolve shortages and expedite critical orders.
• Identify cost-saving and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Support inventory optimisation and engineering changes.

What you'll bring

It would be great if you also have:

• Experience in manufacturing or defence.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as D365 or SAP.
• CIPS Level 3 or above.
