Commissioning Service Engineer - HV/LV Switchgear

Location - Scotland

Power up your career with a hands-on engineering role in critical infrastructure. We’re looking for a Commissioning Service Engineer to join our team in Scotland, working on HV/LV switchgear, transformers, and electrical distribution systems across the UK and overseas. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a field-based, problem-solving environment, enjoys variety in their work, and wants to develop expertise in installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault diagnosis. If you’re an electrical engineer looking for hands-on experience in power systems, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do:
  1. Install, commission, and maintain switchgear, transformers, and related equipment (V–33kV).
  2. Perform testing and diagnostics, including Partial Discharge, thermal imaging, and oil sampling.
  3. Lead on-site activities, supervising teams and coordinating with project managers.
  4. Work flexibly, including travel across the UK and internationally, as part of a 24/7 on-call rota.
  5. Produce reports and documentation to ensure high standards of work completion.
What We’re Looking For:
  1. Experience working with electrical distribution systems, switchgear, or transformers.
  2. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose faults in electrical equipment.
  3. Knowledge of HV/LV systems and electrical safety regulations.
  4. Willingness to travel and work flexibly, including some overseas assignments.
  5. Strong communication skills and the ability to supervise teams on-site.
