Due to an increase in workload and some major project wins, JCA has exciting new opportunities for Commissioning Managers to join our team working on customer sites across the M3/M4 corridor.

Responsibilities

The role involves managing the commissioning processes associated with MEP Services, from project inception through installation, testing, commissioning, system integration, demonstration, handover, sign-off, and training of systems to clients and their representatives.

Pre-Construction Phase:

1. Lead and manage the commissioning process as Commissioning (CX) Manager.
2. Undertake commissioning-ability assessments and produce reports, including reviews of drawings, schematics, specifications, and manufacturers’ proposals.
3. Create design review reports highlighting additional requirements for on-site commissioning.
4. Develop detailed Commissioning Plans and Strategies, including outlining system requirements, testing levels, responsibilities, and training needs.
5. Coordinate with the construction team to develop the commissioning programme aligning with construction activities.
6. Organize and chair commissioning meetings.
7. Maintain logs of commissioning issues and resolutions, and identify additional information needs.

Construction and Testing Phase:

1. Further develop and manage the commissioning and testing documentation, including detailed test scripts for each testing level.
2. Manage commissioning and testing personnel on-site.
3. Oversee the commissioning tagging process and procedures.
4. Report progress internally and externally on all commissioning activities.
5. Coordinate with project teams and manage sub-contractor activities, including progress tracking and RAMS approval.
6. Attend site and project meetings, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to quality standards.
7. Implement weekly planning and progress reporting.
8. Conduct quality inspections during pre-commissioning and commissioning stages.
9. Investigate and resolve problems promptly.
10. Ensure health and safety procedures are followed during commissioning.
11. Assist in compiling and managing Handover and QA/QC documentation.

Qualifications

Required skills include:

• Relevant engineering degree (ONC, HND, or Degree) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services.
• Experience in commissioning management for mechanical and/or electrical infrastructure.
• Experience in critical environments (data centres, pharma, labs, heavy industry).
• Knowledge of statutory requirements and industry standards.
• Relevant safety and management certifications (CSCS, IOSH/SMSTS, First Aid).
• Full UK driving license and willingness to travel.
• Client management experience.
