Matchtech is supporting a tier 1 supplier into the Nuclear industry in their search for a Commissioning Engineer with a mechanical / process background. This is a permanent staff position based on site 5 days per week.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Process, Chemical or related engineering discipline.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and/or process systems.
• Experience in commissioning, testing, start-up, operations, maintenance or project delivery.
• Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience in highly regulated safety and quality-led industries.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong IT literacy: Excel, SharePoint, Word, Adobe Review & Comment tools.
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Produce and review commissioning documentation, including test specifications and procedures.
• Support planning and preparation of commissioning activities across assigned systems.
• Take ownership of commissioning test programmes and deliverables.
• Execute site commissioning activities safely and effectively.
• Supervise and coordinate contractor-led commissioning activities where required.
• Analyze test results, identify issues, and support technical resolution activities.
• Ensure commissioning deliverables are completed in accordance with milestones, safety standards and quality requirements.
• Support contractual reviews, acceptance testing, and handover activities.
• Work collaboratively with project stakeholders, contractors, and commissioning teams.

Working as part of a high-performing commissioning team, you will support the safe and successful commissioning of plant systems, ensuring they are fully tested, validated, and ready for commercial operation.

The role offers exposure to complex engineering challenges within a highly regulated environment and would suit candidates with commissioning experience gained within power generation, nuclear, oil & gas, petrochemical, water, utilities, or other heavy industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

About You

Essential Requirements

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Process, Chemical, or a related Engineering discipline.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and/or process systems.
• Experience within commissioning, testing, start-up, operations, maintenance, or project delivery environments.
• Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working within highly regulated safety and quality-led industries.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong IT literacy, including: Microsoft Excel SharePoint Microsoft Word Adobe Review & Comment tools
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience within nuclear, power generation, utilities, oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments.
• Knowledge of Permit-to-Work systems and Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) processes.
• Understanding of UK Mechanical and Electrical Safety Rules.
• Experience using engineering/project software such as Fieldview, Switch, or Navisworks
