Job summary

Millbank Holdings is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support the commissioning lifecycle from planning to handover. You will work with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient commissioning activities and ensure compliance with project requirements and regulations.

You will develop test specifications, review documentation, execute tests, and analyze results, while maintaining high safety and quality standards across all activities.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in an engineering discipline.
• Strong technical knowledge of Mechanical and Process Systems with problem-solving skills.
• Experience planning/coordinating/executing commissioning activities in complex environments.
• Proficient with MS Office and document management/engineering software tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop commissioning documentation, including test specifications and safety-related docs.
• Review contractor commissioning docs and test records.
• Contribute to commissioning plans and own testing programmes.
• Execute commissioning tests and support safe site-led activities.
• Monitor and supervise contractor-led commissioning activities where required.
• Analyse results, identify issues, and support corrective actions.
• Ensure deliverables meet schedule, quality and safety requirements.
• Support contractual reviews, inspections and acceptance activities.
• Provide updates and technical input to Commissioning Managers and project teams.
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality and compliance across activities.

Job description

The Opportunity

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will play a key role throughout the commissioning lifecycle, combining technical expertise with project delivery responsibilities. You will support the planning and preparation of commissioning activities, review commissioning documentation, execute testing activities, and analyse results to demonstrate system readiness for safe operational handover.

Working closely with project teams, contractors and stakeholders, you will help ensure that commissioning activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements, quality standards and regulatory expectations.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

• Develop commissioning documentation, including test specifications, procedures and safety-related documentation.
• Review and assess contractor-produced commissioning documentation and test records.
• Contribute to detailed commissioning plans and take ownership of designated testing programmes.
• Execute commissioning tests and support the safe delivery of site-based commissioning activities.
• Monitor and supervise contractor-led commissioning activities where required.
• Analyse commissioning results, identify issues, and support the implementation of corrective actions.
• Ensure commissioning deliverables are produced on schedule and meet project, quality and safety requirements.
• Support contractual reviews, inspections and acceptance activities.
• Provide regular updates and technical input to Commissioning Managers and wider project teams.
• Promote and maintain high standards of safety, quality and compliance throughout all commissioning activities.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Strong technical knowledge of Mechanical and Process Systems with excellent engineering and problem-solving skills.
• Experience planning, coordinating or executing commissioning activities within complex industrial or engineering environments.
• Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience using document management, collaboration and engineering software tools.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and alongside contractors and suppliers.
• Demonstrable track record of delivering work to schedule while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
• Experience working within robust safety and quality-driven environments.
• Knowledge of permit-to-work systems, isolation procedures and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) processes within heavy industrial settings.
• Experience or knowledge of electrical and mechanical safety rules within power generation, energy, process, nuclear or similar regulated industries would be advantageous.
