Job summary

Our Client seeks a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to deliver safe, efficient commissioning of major plant systems at Hinkley Point C near Bristol. You will join a skilled team, applying engineering expertise to support the safe handover to operations.

You will develop test specs, review safety documents, and coordinate activities to ensure readiness for commercial operation, while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
• Safety-focused approach with experience in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review commissioning documentation, test specifications, and safety documentation.
• Plan and coordinate commissioning activities while taking ownership of allocated test programmes.
• Execute mechanical and process system commissioning tests safely and effectively.
• Lead or support on-site commissioning activities and supervise contractor personnel where required.
• Monitor contractor-led commissioning works to ensure compliance with project standards and procedures.
• Analyse commissioning results and support readiness assessments for commercial operation.
• Resolve technical issues and implement effective engineering solutions.
• Support contractual review, acceptance, and commissioning verification activities.
• Provide progress updates and technical information to the Commissioning Manager.
• Ensure commissioning deliverables are completed on time and in line with project requirements.

Play a key role in delivering one of the UK's most significant clean energy projects at Hinkley Point C near Bristol, helping bring safe, low-carbon power to millions of homes for generations to come.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer based at Hinkley Point C (HPC), contributing to a landmark nuclear energy programme at a critical stage of delivery. Working within a highly skilled commissioning team, you will combine technical expertise with project delivery experience to support the safe and successful commissioning of major plant systems.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications & Requirements

• Degree qualified, or equivalent, in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and process systems.
• Proven engineering problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience working within safety-critical or highly regulated environments.
• Demonstrable commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Strong ICT literacy, including Excel, SharePoint, Adobe, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to quickly learn and utilise specialist project software platforms.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Collaborative approach with experience working alongside contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of permit-to-work and lock-out/tag-out systems; power generation experience is advantageous.
