Job Function
To undertake installation, commissioning, and maintenance works alongside the Security Systems team whilst operating in compliance with company policy and procedures.
Principle Accountabilities
- Install, commission, and hand over various fire detection systems, including Addressable/Non-addressable systems, Air Sampling, Beam Detection, Wireless systems, etc., in accordance with current standards and Codes of Practice.
- Work within project time constraints, promptly identifying and communicating potential risks to project delivery.
- Commission and hand over systems according to specifications and drawings, including providing client demonstrations.
- Hold FIA qualifications (BS5839 Fundamentals/Advanced and Commissioning).
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of BS5839 (all parts) and SSSTS to supervise third parties on-site as required.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant Health & Safety requirements.
- Maintain health, safety, and welfare of yourself and team in line with company policy.
- Complete relevant documentation (via tablet or paperwork) in accordance with FIA & BAFE requirements.
- Support company policies and best practices regarding fire and security, emphasizing the protection of sensitive customer information.
- Knowledge of integrating detection systems into other disciplines is advantageous.
- Provide technical support across departments within the City.
- Assist in training and developing trainee Engineers.
Knowledge, Skill, And Abilities
- Minimum of 8 years' proven experience with Fire Alarms.
- FIA qualifications (Advanced and Commissioning).
- Full understanding of BS5839 standards.
- Knowledge of detection system integration is a plus.
- Ability to program cause and effect for various manufacturers from a laptop.
- Excellent communication skills for customer-facing interactions.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong understanding of industry standards related to installed systems.
- Full understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
- Valid full clean driving license and willingness to travel nationwide.
- ECS/CSCS Card, IPAFF, and Asbestos awareness certification.
- SSSTS certification for supervising third-party contractors on-site.
- Willingness to go the extra mile and flexible working hours.
- Readiness to travel at short notice and overnight stays for large system commissioning.
- On-call availability during soak tests and warranty periods.
