Qualifications

• Experience in testing and commissioning of HV power systems equipment.

Job Description Summary

o To ensure all site commissioning and installation activities are carried out to the highest standards of Health, Safety and Quality and in a manner that safeguards the environment.

o To ensure that all site commissioning activities are undertaken in full compliance with GE Grid and client policies and procedures, in addition to the UK and international legislation.

o To test, commission and service installed primary and secondary equipment during construction and in-service substation operations.

o To effectively execute projects in line with client and GE expectations, programmes and budgets.

o To ensure accurate on-site test records, reports and quality documentation are created, maintained and circulated in accordance with GE internal governance and GE quality plans.

o To effectively work alongside other assigned staff as part of a team to successfully deliver projects.

o Able to travel throughout UK and globally as and when required.

o Able to work on offshore windfarms.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Promotes safe working practices and continual improvement in site safely culture.
• Responsible for the effective and efficient testing and commissioning of substation equipment ensuring that agreed work is carried out in accordance with the pre-set time scales and budgets.
• Responsible for the execution of day-to-day commissioning activities to successfully achieve on time delivery of assigned projects.
• Responsible for the preparation, creation and issue of site documentation including but not limited to RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statement), NCR’s (Non-conformance Report), TQ’s (Technical Queries) in accordance with approved processes and procedures.
• Communicating site non-compliances and or deviations to the Site Manager & Project Engineer.
• Reports to the Site Manager / Project Manager and Commissioning Manager.
• Responsible for assisting with commissioning activities to an agreed programme and to pre-set time scales and budgets.
• Basic experience in the testing and commissioning of HV power systems equipment.
• Basic experience in activities related to the testing and validation of an equipment, facility or plant in accordance with the design objectives or specifications for operational use.
• Basic understanding in SCADA systems as well as technical skills using PC / DS Agile/ Aview software.
• Site experience, working at height and working in a construction environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both internally and externally.

EXPERIENCE

• Demonstrated experience in testing and commissioning of substation equipment (Generation, transmission and distribution).
• Basic experience of working in a HV substation environments.
• Basic knowledge & understanding of GE Micom and Multilin products will be an added advantage.
• Familiarity of working with any of the various test equipment such as Omicron, Sverker, Programma and Megger.
