Job summary

Securitas Technology is hiring a proactive Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning phase of security installations in the Installation Department across the North East, North West of England and Scotland.

You will coordinate with Project Managers and engineers, mentor team members, oversee testing and documentation, and ensure NSI standards and safe practices. The role offers opportunities to develop your career within a supportive, forward-thinking team.

Qualifications

  • Technical experience with high-end integrated security systems (CCTV, Access, Intruder, and preferably Fire & Communications).
  • Able to work in high-pressure environments and independently when needed.
  • Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service.
  • At least 8 years’ experience in installing/commissioning security products.
  • Strong commercial focus to deliver projects on budget, on time and to quality standards.
  • Experience of project delivery and planning to anticipate requirements and mitigate risk.
  • Sound knowledge of IP technology & networks.
  • Problem solving for complex electronic security installations.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Exceptional time management & planning skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commissioning activities for projects and direct the on-site commissioning team.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to integrate commissioning into the project timeline.
  • Mentor and develop the commissioning team, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Provide subject-matter leadership to Project Managers and Install Engineers on commissioning and start-up.
  • Oversee testing, validation, and documentation of all systems and equipment.
  • Provide 3rd line technical support to the installation department (and service where applicable).
  • Manage commissioning and start-up on major or complex systems in a controlled sequence per specifications.
  • Maintain NSI installation standards, identify errors, and guide rectification; provide field training where possible.
  • Identify and resolve issues during commissioning and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare systems for final inspection and handover to Operations.
  • Support handover and client acceptance; report progress to Project/Installation Managers.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance for smooth transition to full operation.
  • Support on-site surveys and installation meetings.
  • Observe Health and Safety regulations at all times and promote a safe working environment.
  • Report faults and risks to the appropriate department.
  • Perform any other duties as required while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

Job Description
What you will be doing...
  • Lead & direct all commissioning activity for a project including the lead staff position responsible for and directing all commissioning activities at the site.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure all commissioning activities are integrated into the overall project timeline.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other commissioning team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Interfacing with various stakeholders including the Project Managers, Field Engineering, and Installation Engineers to provide subject-matter expert advice and leadership regarding commissioning and start-up.
  • Oversee the commissioning process, including the testing, validation, and documentation of all systems and equipment.
  • Provide 3rd Line Technical Support to the installation department (and service where applicable).
  • Responsible for the commissioning and start-up on all major, and, or complex systems, in a controlled sequence and to the project specifications.
  • Maintaining NSI installation standards, compliance and quality in the field, identify errors/faults, and provide guidance on rectification, and where possible provide one on one field training.
  • Identify and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the commissioning process, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Prepare systems for final inspection and hand over to Operations Team after commissioning procedures are complete.
  • Support system handover and client acceptance.
  • Report to the installation owner (Project Manager, Installation Manager) on issues regarding commissioning, start-up, schedule and progress.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure a smooth transition from commissioning to full operational status.
  • Support on site surveys and site installation meetings.
  • Observe the highest standard of Health and Safety and act in accordance with regulations at all times.
  • Promote a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with Health and Safety procedures, identifying areas of risk and reporting any faults to the appropriate department.
  • Any other duties as reasonably required by the business. Consistently provide a high level of customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
What you will need...
  • Technical experience working on high end integrated security systems in high pressured environments across all major disciplines, CCTV, Access, Intruder, and preferably Fire and Communications.
  • Proactive response to all situations; ability to work alone and think on your feet.
  • Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service.
  • At least 8 years’ experience in installing/commissioning security products.
  • A strong commercial focus to ensure projects are delivered on budget, on time and to agreed quality standards.
  • Experience of project delivery and planning to anticipate future requirements and to mitigate risk.
  • Sound knowledge of IP technology & networks.
