Job summary

HRGO Recruitment is seeking a Commissioning Engineer for a hands-on role covering pre-commissioning, testing, commissioning and handover. Based in Speke, Liverpool, with hybrid working and UK-wide travel to customer sites.

You will support planning, perform FAT/SAT, prepare equipment and maintain records. The role requires 2+ years in a technical gas industry, knowledge of telemetry/metering systems, and strong fault-finding, with relevant electrical qualifications.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in a technical gas industry role.
• HNC/HND in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, communication and organisational skills.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Support commissioning planning and project delivery.

Commissioning Engineer

Location: Speke, Liverpool

Salary: £55,000 per annum

Type: Permanent

HRGO Recruitment is working with an established engineering and systems integration business to recruit a Commissioning Engineer.

You’ll work on specialist telemetry and metering systems supporting the UK gas network, including gas metering upgrades, telemetry projects and biomethane injection schemes.

This is a hands‑on role covering pre-commissioning, testing, commissioning and final handover, with a mix of workshop, site and customer‑facing work.

Key Responsibilities

Skills & Experience

• 2+ years' experience in a technical gas industry role.
• Experience with telemetry and metering systems is desirable.
• Knowledge of flow meters, ultrasonic meters and flow computers is advantageous.
• Experience with PLCs, such as Siemens or OPTO.
• Knowledge of remote I/O systems, such as Pepperl+Fuchs, is beneficial.
• 18th Edition, electrical inspection & testing and CompEx.
• SHEA Gas and/or IOSH Managing Safely would be advantageous.
• HNC/HND in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Strong fault‑finding, diagnostic, communication and organisational skills.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Working Arrangements

Based in Speke, Liverpool, with hybrid working available. The role involves regular travel to customer sites across the UK, including occasional short notice travel and working away from home.
