Job Opportunity: Commissioning Editor (9-Month Maternity Cover)

We have an exciting opportunity to join a leading ELT publisher as a Commissioning Editor on a 9-month maternity leave contract. Role Overview:

As a Commissioning Editor, you will oversee and manage multi-component ELT projects (digital and print), including course books and teacher resources for the schools market (all ages) in Egypt. You will work closely with the local publishing team and collaborators in the UK, acting as the main liaison with the Ministry of Education. Your key responsibilities will include:

1. Commissioning and publishing high-quality print, audio, and digital learning materials in accordance with the MoE brief.
2. Managing complex projects within fixed budgets and deadlines.
3. Coordinating teams of authors, educational consultants, editors, designers, and illustrators.
4. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with international colleagues, clients, and officials.
5. Creating and maintaining project schedules.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in ELT publishing, with a track record of developing educational products and content. Strong relationship management, excellent attention to detail, and project management skills are essential. Experience in the Middle Eastern market is a plus but not required; candidates with ELT publishing experience from any market are encouraged to apply. This initial 9-month contract may lead to a longer-term position depending on business needs.
