Job summary

Equans, a Bouygues group company, seeks a Commissioning Director to lead the commissioning strategy and execution for the EDG scope on the Hinkley Point C project. You will report to the Project Director and drive readiness from construction to operation across multi-disciplinary teams.

You will coordinate with engineering, construction and client stakeholders, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage schedules, handover processes and documentation for smooth operational readiness.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of experience in commissioning management on large industrial projects.
• Extensive experience in nuclear, power generation or highly regulated industries.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary commissioning teams and manage interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commissioning strategy and execution for the EDG scope at Hinkley Point C.
• Define the commissioning plan, manage teams, and coordinate with engineering, construction, quality and client stakeholders.
• Ensure readiness of systems, documentation and resources for commissioning activities and handover.
• Oversee testing, regulatory compliance and final acceptance processes; drive issue resolution.

Commissioning Director (M/ W)

Location: HPC Site (near Bridgwater Somerset UK)

Your role and responsibilities:

Reporting to the Project Director, you will lead the commissioning strategy and execution for the EDG (Emergency Diesel Generator) scope of the Hinkley Point C project, ensuring the successful transition from construction completion to operational readiness.

• Defining and deploying the commissioning strategy and execution plan.
• Managing commissioning teams throughout preparation, testing and handover phases.
• Coordinating commissioning activities with engineering, construction, quality and client stakeholders.
• Ensuring readiness of systems, documentation and resources for commissioning activities.
• Managing commissioning schedules, priorities and interfaces across multiple workstreams.
• Supervising system and integrated testing activities.
• Ensuring compliance with nuclear, regulatory and contractual requirements.
• Driving resolution of technical issues, punch-list items and non-conformities.
• Overseeing performance testing and final acceptance processes.
• Supporting the client through handover and operational readiness activities.

Your profile :

• Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in commissioning management on large industrial projects.
• Extensive experience within nuclear, power generation or highly regulated industries.
• Strong knowledge of system testing, operational readiness and project handover processes.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary commissioning teams.
• Excellent ability to manage interfaces between engineering, construction and operations.
• Strong communication, leadership and negotiation skills.
• Fluent English required.
• Experience working on EPC or major infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
• Experience in the testing and commissioning of Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) systems is highly desirable.
