Job summary

The Square in Bristol is seeking a part-time Commis Chef to join our stylish venue on Berkeley Square. You’ll work 24 hours across 3–4 shifts, including evenings and weekends, in a busy, open kitchen with opportunities to grow your skills.

We’re a welcoming, forward‑thinking team that values fresh ingredients, teamwork and great food. Paid at £12.71/hr, with monthly pay, and strong progression opportunities within the Quarter Group.

Love cooking and want to build on your experience in a high-quality, seasonal, fresh-food kitchen? We’re looking for a Commis Chef to join our team at The Square - a stylish, independently run restaurant and private members' club nestled on the beautiful Berkeley Square in Clifton.

This is a part time time Commis Chef role (24 hours per week) and would suit a junior chef who’s got the basics down, brings a great attitude to the kitchen, and is ready to take the next step. As our new part time Commis Chef, you’ll be joining a supportive and experienced kitchen team where hard work is balanced with good vibes, proper hours and space to grow. We’re serious about food - everything’s made fresh and with care, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Your day-to-day will be varied, rewarding, and full of flavour.

The Commis Chef position at a glance:

Location: The Square , on Berkeley Square (BS8). You’ll find a team that genuinely supports each other - we work hard, but we laugh a lot too

Hours: part time, 24 hours per week (usually worked over 3-4 shifts each week, rota-based including evenings and weekends)

Pay: £12.71 per hour (paid monthly)

What you’ll be doing as Commis Chef:

Prep and cook for our seasonal fine dining menu

The Square holds regular events (weddings, private parties, corporate events etc), as well as à la carte service. You’ll take part in prepping and cooking for both these types of service

All menu items are prepped from fresh, locally sourced ingredients

Keep things tight and tidy during service

Learn from experienced chefs and build your skills

Bring the energy, passion that and personality makes the kitchen tick - we have an open kitchen, and so our cheffing team is present on the floor and a key part of our guests' experience
