The Grand Hotel Birmingham Limited is seeking a Commis Chef to join our fast-moving kitchen team at Birmingham's iconic Grand Hotel. You’ll learn from experienced chefs, rotate across sections, and help maintain high standards in a busy service environment.

This hands-on role offers opportunities to develop skills through practical training, with shifts that include days, evenings and weekends and a focus on delivering quality guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen environment is desirable but not essential.
• Good communication and teamwork skills are important.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.

As a Commis Chef at The Grand Hotel Birmingham you’ll be part of a fast-moving kitchen team, preparing fresh dishes for guests and building the skills to take your career forward. It’s a hands‑on role where you’ll support senior chefs, rotate across different sections, and play your part in delivering high standards every day.

Typical shifts include day shifts, evenings, and weekends when we prepare for service or when the operation in full swing.

What you’ll do

• Rotate through different kitchen sections as part of your training and development
• Maintain high food hygiene and safety standards at all times
• Assist with stock control and help reduce waste
• Work as part of the team, stepping in to support wherever needed

What you’ll bring

• Experience in a kitchen environment is always a plus however this is not essential
• A genuine passion for food and the ambition to progress in your career
• Food hygiene knowledge – a food hygiene certificate is desirable
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Flexibility to work a shift pattern that includes evenings and weekends
