Job summary

City Cruises UK, part of the Hornblower Group, operates dining and sightseeing cruises on London's fleet. We are seeking a Commis Chef to support the kitchen team aboard our dining boats, delivering high-quality meals in a fast-paced environment.

Working in a land-based kitchen, you will prep ingredients, follow Head Chef specs, and assist with stock control while upholding safety and hygiene standards. Level 2 Food Hygiene and strong English are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef with high-volume catering and hospitality.
• Level 2 in Food Hygiene.
• Competent level of English (spoken and written).
• Experience in standards/compliance environment.
• Awareness of manual handling techniques.
• Awareness of COSHH and chemical safety.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all necessary ingredients and equipment are prepped and ready for service before the shift begins.
• Takes care of daily food preparation and duties assigned by the Head Chef
• Maintain immaculate cleanliness at your workstation, follow food safety guidelines, and properly store food deliveries.
• Ensure that the production, preparation and presentation of food are of the highest quality at all times
• Work across different sections of the kitchen to learn various culinary techniques
• To follow specs and recipes set out by the Head Chef
• Assist with stock rotation, minimising food waste, and monitoring inventory levels.
