Job summary

RBH Hospitality Management is seeking a motivated individual to join AC Hotel Glasgow as a Commis Chef. You will assist in preparing ingredients, work with senior chefs to learn techniques, and help maintain a clean, efficient kitchen.

You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, showing enthusiasm for learning and a strong attention to hygiene and cleanliness. Training, teamwork, and growth opportunities are offered in a supportive setting.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in cooking and a willingness to learn in a professional kitchen.
• Some kitchen experience is a plus, but training is provided.
• Ability to follow directions and maintain hygiene standards.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability in fast-paced service.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing ingredients for dishes and ensure stations run smoothly.
• Work alongside senior chefs to learn techniques.
• Maintain a clean workstation and follow hygiene standards.
• Help with kitchen inventory and monitor stock levels.
• Make sauces, grilling, frying, and assist with plating.
• Participate in regular cleaning duties to keep equipment spotless.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMIS CHEF AT OUR HOTEL

What you'll be doing...

• Assist in preparing ingredients for various dishes, from chopping and slicing to marinating and portioning, to ensure each station runs smoothly.
• Work alongside senior chefs in all sections, gaining hands‑on experience and refining essential cooking techniques.
• Maintain a clean, organised workstation, following hygiene and food safety standards rigorously.
• Help with kitchen inventory by preparing ingredients, monitoring stock levels, and informing chefs when supplies are low.
• Take on basic cooking tasks, including making sauces, grilling, frying, and assisting with plating.
• Participate in regular cleaning duties to ensure all equipment and surfaces are kept spotless.
• Quickly learn and adapt to kitchen procedures, contributing effectively to a well‑organised team.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
