Job summary

Thomas Franks is seeking a Commis Chef for its Bedford location, a busy independent catering environment. You will join a small team, preparing breakfasts, lunches and hospitality service using fresh ingredients and brand standards.

The role emphasises food hygiene, allergen control, teamwork and customer service, with opportunities for training and development and a comprehensive benefits package.

Job description

An independent pre-preparatory school with an outstanding nursery, located in the heart of Bedford for students from the age of 12 months to 9 years. Catering for about 120 students and teachers daily, we offer a core feeding of Lunch with some hospitality. This is a 52 week contract and operates Monday to Friday.

We are looking for a talented Commis Chef to join our team at one of our prestigious locations in Bedford.

Key responsibilities:

• To work well in a team, providing breakfast, lunch & hospitality
• To produce food for service using fresh ingredients, cooking from scratch and following the companies brand standards
• Ensuring company food standards are adhered to and wastage controlled.
• Ensuring all Food Hygiene and Health & Safety policies and allergen control procedures are followed.
• Experience of pot wash duties would be an advantage
• Excellent customer service skills
• Great team player

Knowledge / competencies:

• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good understanding and use of verbal English.
