Pedigree; When it comes to MGAs, this one is a purebred – owned by a global broking giant, with capacity provided by one of the largest composite insurers in the world, it’s little wonder it can offer a ‘best in class’ service to its discerning clientele.
Already commanding a significant portion of the Agricultural / Farm insurance market, this dynamic business is committing considerable resource (financial and otherwise) to increase its market share further.
In this varied role, you will be dealing with both renewal and new business, with clients coming from both its own broking business and third-party brokers UK-wide. You will be dealing with a variety of bespoke products that are geared to the Agricultural market, such as Farm Combined, Property, Liability, and specialist products.
Duties will include:
• Managing and maintaining relationships with regional brokers, colleagues and clients across the UK.
• Identifying opportunities to offer solutions to existing clients/ brokers by evaluating applicant situations and circumstances and determining insurance risks.
• Working within your delegated underwriting authority to underwrite profitable business.
• Communicating effectively with senior members of staff to ensure clarity and positive relationships across the business.
• Putting clients and customers first by working within SLAs and ensuring a high level of service is provided at all times.
• Liaising with brokers and colleagues to increase profitable relationships, both virtually and in person.
• Issuing insurance policies by calculating premium rates, as well as negotiating insurance terms and conditions with brokers.
Ideally, you will come from an Agricultural underwriting background, with experience of writing Farm Combined business. However, we do welcome applications from outstanding Commercial Underwriters, who have a keen interest in the Agricultural sector, and a knowledge of the issues faced by those who live and work in the countryside. We are also keen to hear from technically-gifted Brokers, who have underwritten business via delegated authority / schemes.
You must be highly numerate, with excellent IT skills. You should also have strong stakeholder-management skills, enjoy working to shared goals and objectives, and, as a senior member of the team, be willing to contribute to the future direction of the business by suggesting new ideas.
This is a hybrid role, and you can work several days per week in a number of office locations. However, we also welcome applications from highly experienced Agricultural Underwriters who wish to be almost exclusively home-based (if they can get to an office location every month or so).
As well as a generous basic salary, you will receive a fantastic flexible benefits package that can be tweaked to your own personal circumstances – of particular note is a market-leading pension arrangement, which effectively trebles your own contributions.
