Job summary

Gallagher's Commercial Property Underwriter role is based in the UK. You will underwrite commercial property risks including landlords, mixed occupancy, and high-value portfolios, while building strong broker relationships and ensuring profitability.

You’ll assess new business, renewals, and policy amendments, interpret property values, construction details, and claims histories, and contribute to underwriting strategies in a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience underwriting Commercial Property Owners insurance.
• Ability to analyse risk information including values, construction details and claims history.
• Strong communicator and negotiator with brokers.
• Qualification towards or holding Cert CII, Dip CII, ACII preferred.

Overview

Are you passionate about assessing and managing commercial property risks?

We’re looking for a Commercial Property Underwriter to join our team. You’ll play a key role in underwriting and managing a portfolio of commercial property owners’ insurance risks. This is your chance to make a real impact while working in a supportive and inclusive environment.

How you'll make an impact

• Underwrite commercial property risks, including residential and commercial landlords, mixed occupancy properties, and high-value portfolios.
• Assess new business, renewals, and policy amendments, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Build strong relationships with brokers, negotiating terms and pricing to secure profitable business.
• Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, and take corrective action to meet growth and profitability targets.
• Support broker development initiatives and contribute to product development and underwriting strategies.

About You

• You’ve got experience underwriting Commercial Property Owners insurance and a strong understanding of property risks.
• You’re skilled at analysing risk information, including property values, construction details, and claims history.
• You’re a great communicator and negotiator, with a proven ability to build strong broker relationships.
• You’re detail-oriented, commercially aware, and confident in making decisions.
• Ideally, you hold or are working towards a Cert CII, Dip CII, or ACII qualification.
