Job summary

Mitie Group plc is seeking a Commercial Plumbing and Heating Engineer to lead planned and reactive maintenance across domestic hot and cold water and mechanical systems at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.

You will work on hospital-grade systems, ensuring compliance, safety, and high-quality service delivery while collaborating with the estates and BMS teams.

Qualifications

• Completed a recognised plumbing and heating apprenticeship to Level 3 or equivalent.
• Strong commercial plumbing and heating maintenance experience with wet heating systems.
• Troubleshooting and problem solving across complex mechanical systems.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across domestic water and mechanical systems at a hospital.
• Carry out servicing, fault finding, and component replacement on pumps and water systems.
• Collaborate with BMS and estates teams to meet design and statutory requirements.
• Evidence compliance and record maintenance using PDA technology.

ROLE: Commercial Plumbing and Heating Engineer (Shift)
HOURS: Full Time
LOCATION: Liverpool

We're looking for a Commercial Plumbing and Heating Engineer who will lead the planning and maintenance of domestic hot and cold water and mechanical systems across our flagship Alder Hey Children's Hospital contract, ensuring compliance, operational excellence and outstanding service delivery.

• Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across domestic water, LTHW, CT, VT, piped medical gas and compressed air systems.
• Carry out servicing, fault finding, repairs and component replacement on pumps, calorifiers, heat exchangers, valves, RPZs, water tanks, booster sets and associated mechanical plant.
• Collaborate with specialist BMS contractors and the wider estates team to ensure systems perform in line with design requirements and statutory obligations.
• Utilise PDA technology to evidence compliance, complete maintenance activities and accurately record technical documentation.
• Promote continuous improvement, support operational risk management and contribute to a culture of right first time service delivery and customer excellence.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.

• Completed a recognised plumbing and heating apprenticeship to Level 3 or hold an equivalent Level 3 qualification in Commercial Plumbing and Heating.
• Strong commercial plumbing and heating maintenance experience with extensive knowledge of wet heating systems and building mechanical services.
• Demonstrable troubleshooting, fault-finding and problem-solving skills across complex mechanical systems.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, CDM requirements and compliance standards, including HTM-related environments.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
