We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Commercial Officer – Customer, to be involved in an industry leading, cutting-edge project for a new type of power station.

The market potential for Rolls-Royce SMR across the globe is huge and to deliver our strategic priorities requires a strong relationship with customers, developers, technology providers and other third-parties in the customer space. The Customer Commercial Team is responsible for securing a first order, supporting future orders, and managing ongoing commercial requirements associated with our customer engagements.
Key results & what can be achieved in the role
- Support in Customer Pricing Submissions
- Assisting in the preparation and approval of customer pricing submissions, including providing analytical support in the development and presentation of price analysis for governance purposes.
- Customer Pricing Negotiation Support
- Supporting customer negotiations through preparation and documentation of negotiation plans, booklets and other supporting material
- Customer Contract Support
- Providing support to the reviewing, drafting, negotiating and finalising of contracts and commercial agreements with customers.
- Commercial Inbox and Agreement Administration
- Managing the commercial team shared inbox and triaging different customer requests.
- Administrative and Reporting Support to the Group Head of Commercial
- Providing support to the Group Head of Commercial as required, including coordination of internal meetings, collation/formatting of senior meeting material and documenting actions and following up as required.
- Commercial Governance and Process
- Ensuring adherence to the commercial process and governance requirements, alongside supporting process improvement activities as part of the continuous improvement of our processes.
Key selection criteria
Commercial Strategy and Pricing
- You’ll have some experience supporting the development and implementation of commercial strategies across customer campaigns. This includes assisting in the evaluation of suitable pricing models – such as time and materials, cost reimbursement and firm fixed price contracts. You’ll understand how these pricing models operate and the risks attached.
Contract drafting and negotiation
- You’ll have experience supporting the definition of principles and drafting, negotiating, executing and management of contracts.
- You’ll have experience supporting the negotiating of terms directly and building positive relationships with customers.
Development of the Commercial Function
- A priority activity is the development and maturity of the commercial function in a newly formed business including leading activities and improvements in relation to governance, processes, policies, training and the development of contract templates and guidance.
- We would also expect you to collaborate and share your expertise and experience with the broader customer team, supporting our collaborative team culture and the development of our newly formed function.
Internal Interface
- You will be interfacing with internal stakeholders, individuals and departments within the Company for a variety of purposes.
Presenting Information to Stakeholders
- You will already have some existing experience in taking information, understanding, and presenting it in an appropriate and compelling format, which includes formal communications to the appropriate stakeholders (internal and external).
Training & Qualifications
- Educated to degree level (ideally Business Management, Law or Finance).
- Strong Microsoft Office skills particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Proven good interpersonal and organisation skills.
- Demonstrated track record of meeting personal objectives and working within demanding timescales.
- Some experience of dealing with Customers.

Pay And Benefits
We anticipate paying a salary of between £40,000 - £52,500 DOE plus:-
- Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 12.5%
- Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package
- Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
- Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.
- Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
- Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
- £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
